The Stanley Hotel Writers Retreat

There are just three days remaining to contribute to the Indiegogo campaign for a 5-day writers retreat from October 23-27, 2014 (note: they've already reached their funding goal, however, their stretch goals include additional perks). R.J. Cavender is hosting this event at the historic and haunted birthplace of Stephen King's The Shining, The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado.

If you want to take part, register by choosing a package, then they'll provide details on how to receive the group rate at the hotel when you make your reservations. Note that the campaign level you chose does not include your hotel room or transportation fees. However, it does include all the group discount perks, select editing packages, inclusion on any outings/trips over the weekend, and a guaranteed tour of Room 217.

Room 217 is where Stephen King once stayed at The Stanley, and his time there inspired him to write The Shining. But he didn't write the novel there, nor was the feature film starring Jack Nicholson filmed there (although it was used as a location for the TV-movie version).

Still, it would be a fun getaway for writers, and fans of the film and novel!
